Nigel Richards is an internationally-recognized DJ, producer, and entrepreneur known for his unique music style and contributions to the dance music industry.
Throughout college Nigel learned to mix on the radio and started relationships with visionary juggernauts in the dance music scene like Mad Mike of UR, Felix Da Housecat, and everyone from Strictly Rhythm, Nervous, and Eightball Records. Graduating with an economics degree, Nigel knew his love for techno music was the career path he wanted.

In 1993, Richards opened the doors to 611 Records, a record store for dance music DJs, in his hometown of Philadelphia.  Richards’ knack for branding evolved 611 Records from a local record store in Philadelphia to an international lifestyle brand synonymous with dance music and the DJ lifestyle.

Richards, who describes his music as “sexy, spooky, dark techno,” recalls the experience that inspired him to pursue his career as a DJ.  In 1993, the same year that he opened 611 Records, Richards was asked to travel to Stuttgart, Germany to perform for 8,000 people along with Marc Spoon, Marusha and Mate Galic.  The energy from the room inspired him to devote his life to delivering music to the masses.

His 1994 techno monster track, Sulfurex-Point Break, was released on Tim Taylor and Damon Wild’s Extortion label out of London and subsequently licensed for dozens of DJ compilations by techno juggernauts such as: Jeff Mills, Carl Cox, Sven Vath, Dave Clarke, Samuel Sessions, DJ Dan, and many others. Nigel has toured throughout the world since the 90’s hitting Germany, Austria, Scotland, England, France, Russia, Bulgaria, Malaysia, Brazil, Colombia, China….. a total of 22 countries and counting. Inside the US, he has played in every state at least twice, frequenting coastal trips monthly.

Nigel has released 54 vinyl releases, 4 mixed cd’s and now dozens of digital trax. His production style has evolved with releases on such labels as Thoughtless, Downside-Up, Klientele, Communique, Proton and others. His recent music often receives accolades from Marco Bailey, Laurent Garnier, Green Velvet and Technasia. Many of his digital releases have appeared on countless compilations.

His weekly radio show and “611” mobile app reach over 6,000 listeners and he has over 600,000 downloads of his mixes. His world travels have spread the message of techno for two decades.

Nigel crafts his tech-house and techno sets skillfully considering his background in the techno world history.
